Playing broomball since: Fall 1992

Position: Anywhere, though you don’t want me as your goalie!

How did you hear about the CBA?:
When I graduated from Miami University, where I started playing, I searched for a league in Cincinnati and found an email address for Jim Schubert, who got me on a team in the CBA league at Northern Kentucky Ice Center.

Memories of Broomball "Firsts":
My first season was in a freshman dorm league, which barely qualified as broomball because none of the teams’ players knew what they were doing.  By graduation, I thought I was good, but then I joined the CBA and saw how much better our advanced players were than any Miami players at that time.

The first tournament I traveled to was the 1998 Charlotte tournament, played on a rink in a shopping mall.  My first (and only) MVP award was in the 1999 United States Broomball Recreational Co-Ed Division held in Lakewood, Ohio.  My first of two World Broomball Championship tournaments was the 2000 Challenge Cup held in Victoria, B.C., Canada, where my team, Eclipse, beat teams from as far away as Japan to win the Mixed International Cup (the second level co-ed division).  That was also the first time I watched truly “elite” level players competing, significantly raising the bar for even our most experienced CBA players – we’ll get there, though!
